The cold weather, which showed its effect throughout Turkey, brought snow to the majority of the country. The heavy snow, which has affected many provinces except the western part of Turkey since the past days, has also reached Istanbul and the surrounding provinces. The highway, which was completely closed to Ankara – Istanbul directions, was closed to traffic at around 21 in the evening after heavy type and icing. While transportation stopped on the D-100 and Anatolian Highway in the direction of Ankara, the TEM highway on the other hand was closed. The traffic reached a queue of 17 kilometers, especially at the Düzce-Bolu crossing of the TEM highway.
