Following the tremendous success of the Fallout series, Blizzard’s legendary ARPG series Diablo also entered the television world. Rod Fergusson, head of the Diablo series, thinks that the game’s deep themes can be successfully transferred to the television format.
Diablo series may be coming!
Almost everyone is talking about Amazon Prime’s Fallout series right now. In an interview, following the success of Fallout, Fergusson was asked if he would consider a series adaptation for Diablo. Fergusson stated that this was possible. Although there has been no official announcement yet, Fergusson stated that Diablo’s universal themes are suitable for an immersive television series.
Fergusson’s full statement for the Diablo series is as follows:
“Yes, I definitely think it could work. One of my favorite features of Diablo as an IP is that it contains themes that many people can relate to, such as the conflict between the High Heavens and the Burning Hells and the struggle between Good and Evil. I think these kinds of universal themes can translate very well to the television format. I wish I had something tangible to talk to you about today. But in general terms, can such an adaptation find success? “I definitely think yes.”
Although Diablo is not a story-oriented game, it has a deep-rooted storytelling. The series focuses on a realm where angels live, another realm where demons live, and a realm called Sanctuary where humans live. The Sanctuary is a place frequented by angels and demons to influence humans for their own purposes.
