Is another summer of chaos threatening travelers?

Frankfurt, Dusseldorf Once again, vacationers and travelers have to be prepared for problems during the summer holidays. Last year it was a lack of staff that led to massive delays and cancellations, for example in aviation. The situation has obviously eased here.

There is now a threat of labor disputes at Deutsche Bahn and Lufthansa, including indefinite ones. This unsettles many who are currently planning their vacation. We answer the most important questions.

An indefinite strike is threatening Deutsche Bahn in four to five weeks. Do travelers have to be prepared for long-lasting train cancellations?

Possibly yes. The union treasury, from which strike payments are paid from the third full day of the work stoppage, should be full to bursting. “There hasn’t been an indefinite strike for at least ten years,” says Detlef Neuß from the Pro Bahn passenger association. EVG’s financial resources to prolong the strike are likely to be substantial.
