In India, sex before marriage is a major taboo. The parents of the 17-year-olds had not known about the pregnancy, writes “India Today”. After the delivery, she locked herself in her room for three days. The teenager’s mother thought her daughter was studying all the time – until at some point she heard an infant scream. As a result, the young mother and the newborn were taken to a hospital.
The police arrested the girl’s 21-year-old boyfriend for having sex with a minor, which is a criminal offense in India. The parents of the 17-year-old had known about the relationship and wanted to marry the two after their daughter’s 18th birthday.
