Berlin The chairman of the German Hospital Society, Gerald Gaß, no longer sees any reason for compulsory vaccination in the event of a new pandemic situation due to the Omicron variant. “If, after weighing the scientific findings, politicians come to the conclusion that the pandemic is over and vaccination is therefore no longer required, then there will be a new situation,” Gass told the Handelsblatt. “Then, in my view, there would be no reason to stick to the general and, above all, facility-related vaccination requirements, which have already been decided.”

The Ethics Council based its recommendation on the Delta variant, which is no longer dominant. “In the light of the omicron variant, the facility-related compulsory vaccination must therefore also be reassessed,” he said.
