IMEI cloning era is over! The bill is in the Parliament!

Is the era of IMEI cloning over? Smartphone prices skyrocketed due to reasons such as the Turkish Lira’s great depreciation against other currencies and the fact that the world’s highest inflation data belonged to our country. For this reason, many people started to resort to illegal IMEI removal – IMEI cloning method. However, if the proposal presented to the Turkish Grand National Assembly today is accepted, this method may become a thing of the past.

How will the IMEI cloning period end? Details of the proposal to the Parliament!

Due to the reasons we have mentioned above, the price of all technological devices, especially smart phones, has increased many times over in Turkey. So much so that when you want to buy a flagship product, you have to sacrifice at least 20 thousand TL.

Of course, with the method called IMEI cloning, millions of people managed to escape this high tax. However, if the law that goes to the parliament is approved in the coming days, the devices of millions of people who have had this procedure done in the past years will also be in danger of shutting down.

A new one has been added to the domestic missiles developed by Roketsan. The short-range ballistic missile Tayfun hit its target from 12.

With the adoption of the law proposal, the period of devices that have been allowed to be offline for 7 years will be reduced to 1 year. To explain this with an example, if you cloned the IMEI of an old or broken phone to your own device, this old device was expected to signal for 7 years.

But it’s not 7 anymore, its IMEI will be turned off if it doesn’t send a signal for only 1 year. So in this scenario, we will have 2 different options. The first of these will be to open it by assigning a different IMEI as the device turns off.

But if it is done in this way, clone devices that make up 1/3 of the market will not be able to find a phone to copy their IMEI. In the second scenario, it will be to register the IMEI by paying after the penalty comes. This does not seem possible at the moment.

Because, according to the latest leaks, there will be a big increase in IMEI registration fees after next December. This amount, which is currently 2732 TL, will increase to at least 7 thousand-8 thousand. Therefore, when there is a clone barrier on one side and a registration hike on the other, there will be a compulsory orientation to TR devices.
