Berlin According to a survey, the shortage of skilled workers among German building construction companies increased in October. 34.1 percent of companies in this industry complained about this, after 33.5 percent in the previous month, as the Munich Ifo Institute announced on Friday for its survey. In civil engineering, however, the number fell slightly to 36.8 percent, after 37.9 percent in the previous month.

“The shortage of skilled workers is a key problem for the construction industry,” said Ifo researcher Felix Leiss. “More than every third company does not find enough staff. At the same time, the demand for construction work remains very high and the order books are full. ”In civil engineering, for example, the order books would have reached a range of 3.8 months. In building construction it is now as much as 5.2 months, “a record,” as Leiss said.
