Our country experienced a great disaster with the 7.7 and 7.6 earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş in the past days. After this disaster, many people think that a similar earthquake may be experienced in Istanbul and its consequences will be more severe. The study carried out by the IMM Earthquake and Soil Investigation Directorate in 2020 reveals the possible consequences of an earthquake to be experienced in Istanbul.

In this study, which is shared on the official website of IMM, there are estimation-based data such as loss of life, severely injured and slightly injured in the event of a possible Istanbul earthquake. IMM, 7.5 The total loss of life in Istanbul in an earthquake of magnitude 14,144 people says it will. This data has emerged in the light of the experiences gained from the Gölcük and Düzce earthquakes and current scientific methods.

There are also some interesting parts of the shared data. So much so that, according to IMM, when the Istanbul earthquake occurs, there will be no loss of life in Arnavutköy and Şile. The highest loss of life will be in Bahçelievler district with 1633 people. Of course, it is useful to remind again that these are all guesses.
