Dusseldorf Galvanized remains stable for decades. Wind, weather and time can hardly harm zinc-treated steel. Surface finishing is still a process without which little can be done in industry from car manufacturing to construction. So it’s fitting when a galvanizing plant has existed for centuries – like The Coatinc Company, which is Germany’s oldest family business today.

Paul Niederstein is the 17th generation to run the business. A company history that goes back to the 16th century has many crises that have survived in its chronicle. With the Ukraine war and the energy crisis, another one is added. In early summer, Niederstein raised a question that was actually considered unthinkable in the industry: What does a galvanizing plant do when it can no longer get gas?
