Frankfurt Time is running out. Students can only apply for a one-off payment of 200 euros online until September 30th. In this way, the state wants to offset some of the additional costs that students incurred due to the massive increase in energy prices as a result of the war in Ukraine. It is the counterpart to the energy price flat rates (EPP) for employed people and pensioners.
While employed people and pensioners received 300 euros, students only received 200 euros. However, they don’t have to pay taxes on it.
All students who were enrolled at a university in Germany as of December 1, 2022 and have their place of residence or habitual residence in Germany can apply for the one-off payment. This also includes doctoral students, students in a dual course of study, part-time students and students on a semester off – but not guest students. Technical and vocational students are also entitled to the money. The Handelsblatt shows how you can now get the one-off payment.
