Nobody meets 100 percent of the requirements in a job advertisement.

Dusseldorf No applicant fulfills one hundred percent of a job advertisement. However, new figures show that in many academic professions such as doctor or test engineer, it is enough to meet less than two thirds of the requirements specified in the job profile in order to get the advertised job.

New employees are therefore far less perfect for a job than is commonly assumed – and than just a few years ago: while in 2018 an average of 60.5 percent of all required skills were still fulfilled by new employees, in 2021 it was only 58.4 percent. This is shown by an evaluation by the German Economic Institute (IW), which is available exclusively to the Handelsblatt.
