It is stated that more than 14,000 games are compatible with Valve’s portable game console. According to SteamDB data, the number of Steam Deck compatible games is currently 14,023.
Of these games, 4,607 have been stamped by Valve as “Works great out of the box on Steam Deck,” while the remaining 9,416 have been stamped as “Available.” This means that the user may need to make some manual adjustments for usable games.
Valve is in the process of reviewing the entire Steam catalogue. The company subjects each game to a four-rating rating system designed to indicate how seamless the experience will be when playing on Deck.

The other two categories that games can fall into are “Unsupported”, meaning games that don’t run on Deck, and “Unknown”, meaning games that haven’t been checked out yet.
For a game to be considered Steam Deck Approved by Valve, it must meet four criteria:
– The game must provide full controller support, use appropriate controller input icons, and automatically open the on-screen keyboard when necessary.
– The game must support the Deck’s default resolution (1280×800 or 1280×720), have good default settings, and text must be readable.
– The game must not display any compatibility warnings and must be controller-controllable if it has a launcher.
– If running via Proton, the game and all media software must be supported by Proton. This includes the anti-cheat system.
