Finally the horror and fear again!
Halloween is celebrated on October 31st – the time of year when everything revolves around witches, ghosts and vampires, when the scariest costumes are put on and the apartments are eerily decorated. A day where young and old have fun, whether on the hunt for snacks, while sipping a gruesome blood cocktail or on the couch while watching a movie together.

1. “A Classic Horror Story”
► “A Classic Horror Story” is an Italian horror film by the directing duo Roberto De Feo & Paolo Strippoli. The film was released on Netflix in 2021. It is about five travelers who are traveling with a motorhome in Italy. You have an accident and you lose consciousness. When they come to, the road has disappeared and they are surrounded by an impenetrable forest. The travelers have to fight their way through to survive.
2. “Hagazussa – The Witch’s Curse”
► The film “Hagazussa” (2017) by Lukas Feigelfeld is set in the 15th century. The young Albrun (Celina Peter) lives with her mother (Claudia Martini) in a remote mountain hut as a goatherd. One winter the mother falls seriously ill and dies. From now on, Albrun’s already difficult life will be even harder. She is accused of witchcraft and a fight for survival begins.
3. “Extinction”
► “Extinction” is a science fiction horror film by Alex Garland from 2018. Three years after a mysterious event, the secret government organization is responsible for finding out what happened in “Area X”. So far, only soldier Kane (Oscar Isaac) has come back alive from the area.
The government decides to start another expedition consisting only of women scientists. Lena (Natalie Portman), Anya (Gina Rodriguez), Cass (Tuva Novotny), Josie (Tessa Thompson) and Dr. Ventress (Jennifer Jason Leigh) are supposed to elicit its secret from the place. But not only “Area X” holds a secret …
4. “Hostel”
► “Hostel” (2005) by Eli Roth is about the two young backpackers Paxton (Jay Hernández) and Josh (Derek Richardson) who met the Icelander Oli (Eyþór Guðjónsson) in France on their trip through Europe. On the train, they find out about a hostel in Slovakia that is said to be teeming with beautiful, lustful women. Spontaneously they change their travel plans and the horror begins …
5. “I see, I see”
► “Ich seh, Ich seh” is an Austrian film by the directing duo Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala. In a secluded house by the lake, the 9-year-old twins, Lukas (Lukas Schwarz) and Elias (Elias Schwarz), are waiting for their mother (Susanne Wuest) to return. When she returns home from cosmetic surgery, her face is heavily bandaged. But not only has their appearance changed, their behavior is also strange and nothing is the same as it used to be. Is this woman even her mother?
6. “The Ritual”
► “The Ritual” is a British horror film by David Bruckner. The 2017 film is about four old college friends who are planning an adventure vacation in the woods of Sweden six months after the death of their friend Rob (Paul Reid). Luke (Rafe Spall), Hutch (Robert James-Collier), Phil (Arsher Ali) and Dom (Sam Troughton) are on their way back from a hiking trip when they decide to take a shortcut through the forest. The four encounter mutilated animals, strange characters and strange objects that they find in an abandoned hut. But that’s just the beginning of something really terrible.
7. “Unknown User”
► “Unknown User” (2016) takes place on the desktop of the laptop of the protagonist Blaire Lily (Shelley Hennig). It’s about six high school friends who meet to Skype exactly one year after the suicide of their classmate Laura Barns (Heather Sossaman). In the chat of the six friends, there is a user who no one knows. He wants to know who posted the video of Laura back then, in which you could see how she committed suicide – otherwise there will be deaths. The friends think it’s a bad joke, but then the threat is put into practice.
8. “Still”
► The film “Still” by horror director Mike Flanagan is about the deaf-mute author Maddie Young (Kate Siegel), who lost her hearing at the age of 13. She lives secluded and alone in her house in the woods. But one night she receives an eerie visit from a masked man (John Gallagher Jr.) who does not want her any good.
9. “The game”
► “The Game” (2017) is a film by Mike Flanagan. To get their sleepy marriage going again, Gerald (Bruce Greenwood) and his wife Jessie (Carla Gugino) decide to take a weekend trip to a remote house. As soon as he arrives at the house, Gerald urges Jessie to have sex. He wants to try something new and handcuffs her. However, it quickly becomes too much for Jessie and breaks off the role-play. Before Gerald can untie it, he suffers a heart attack and dies. Jessie quickly realizes that no one will come to her aid anytime soon …
10. “Apostles”
► “Apostle” by Robert Duvall is set in 1905. After his father’s cry for help, Thomas (Dan Stevens) embarks on the dangerous mission of freeing his kidnapped sister. To do this, he takes on a mysterious sect on a lonely island.
