Hope for peace in Ukraine pushes Dax

The leading German index is on a downward trend this year – despite the recent recovery.

Frankfurt The hope of an early end to the war in Ukraine boosted the Dax on Tuesday. Russian negotiator Vladimir Medinsky has described the peace talks between Ukraine and Russia in Turkey as constructive. Ukraine said it proposed a new system of security guarantees during negotiations with Russia in Istanbul in order to agree to a neutral status with no foreign military bases. Ukraine’s proposals will now be examined and then submitted to President Vladimir Putin, says Medinsky. The Russian Defense Ministry then announced that it would drastically reduce its military activities around Kyiv and Chernihiv.

In view of these signs of hope, the leading index Dax continued to expand its daily gains. In the afternoon, the leading index climbed 3.1 percent to 14,858 points. This more than made up for losses after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
