Historic agreement between Samsung and LG!

Samsung and LG are at the table again. An agreement has been made between the tech giants, this time for OLED TV panels. After 10 years, Samsung has started to produce televisions with OLED technology again. However, Samsung has difficulties in growing panels for these televisions. Therefore, it will fill the remaining gap with LG. Here are the details…

Samsung will buy OLED TV panels from LG!

After nearly 10 years, Samsung launched its first OLED technology television in early 2022. A year later, in 2023, it unveiled its second OLED television model, the QD-OLED TV, at CES 2023. However, Samsung is having serious problems with panel supplies.

Samsung is a brand that produces its own display panels. However, the company cannot keep up with the production of OLED TV panels. The brand, which wants to increase its production capacity, has concluded that the production capacity of OLED screen panels is not sufficient for the moment as a result of the negotiations with Samsung Display (Samsung’s sub-brand that produces screen panels). For this reason, he sat down at the table with LG again.

Technology company Samsung has announced the Tactical Edition portfolio, which consists of two models for the US military. Here are the details!

Having signed a partnership agreement with LG as a result of negotiations, Samsung will purchase the OLED panels required for OLED televisions from LG. In this context, Samsung will now have two suppliers for OLED panels. The first is its in-house Samsung Display, and the second is LG.

According to other information about the agreement, Samsung will buy 2 million W-OLED TV screen panels from LG Display in the first place. In the following periods, it will purchase 3 million more panels in 2024 and 5 million more panels in 2025. These panels will be purchased for 77 and 83 inch TVs.

Win-win cooperation for both parties!

This deal will benefit both parties. It can be said that this opportunity would not be missed, especially for LG. With the end of the Covid-19 epidemic, there has been a decrease in television demands. For this reason, LG Display factories have reduced their production numbers. However, thanks to the agreement with Samsung, LG Display factories will now operate at full capacity.

In addition, supply problems within Samsung, which is trying to keep up with the demand, will be eliminated. According to the comments of experts, the absence of another brand that produces OLED televisions on such a large scale in the market may make Samsung a leader in the market.
