Cologne In times of high incidence, career networks such as Xing or LinkedIn are essential for headhunters to establish initial contact. However, if you have never been approached by personnel consultants, you wonder what the best way to deal with a recruiting request on one of the channels.

Here are tips from two headhunters: Silvia Eggenweiler from Odgers Berndtson and Daniel Vergara, Regional Managing Director Executive Search for Germany and Switzerland at Robert Half.

1. First impressions also count on career networks

An unexpected message from a recruiter pops up in the mailbox. The first reaction: excitement, nervousness, curiosity. The other person shouldn’t feel these emotions. “Keep calm and thank you for the news,” recommends Daniel Vergara. Silvia Eggenweiler also recommends answering in any case “and always starting with a thank you”.
