Handelsblatt Green: No energy transition without hydrogen?

Dusseldorf Without hydrogen, the energy transition will be difficult. Electricity from wind, sun and biomass alone is not enough if the entire economy is to become climate-neutral. But why is hydrogen so important? Where does it come from and who needs it most? Time for a crash course in H2.

So-called green hydrogen, which is produced with green electricity, has so far hardly existed outside of model projects. There is not enough electricity from renewable energies available for this, there is no electrolyser of any significant size, and the infrastructure to transport the green hydrogen has yet to be created.

The current episode of the Handelsblatt Green podcast answers the most important questions about the molecule. In conversation are the hydrogen expert Michael Sterner from the Technical University in Regensburg and representatives from Shell and Thyssen-Krupp.
