Google Talk, which offers instant messaging opportunities similar to applications such as WhatsApp and Telegram, was actually shelved in 2015 and left its place to Hangouts. Google Talk is shutting down on June 16
In a statement shared on Google’s official support page, “We are retiring Google Talk. As we announced in 2017, on June 16, 2022, We will end our support for third-party apps (e.g. Pidgin and Gajim).” made statements.
Anyone trying to sign in to Google Talk on or after June 16, 2022 will encounter a sign-in error. The company told users that they should switch to Google Chat to avoid potential problems and added:
“We recommend using Google Chat to continue chatting with your contacts. With Chat’s advanced Spaces feature, you can more easily plan, share files, collaborate on files, and assign tasks with other users. You also get strong phishing protections and accessibility features (like screen reader support) that we built in Gmail.”
