Google Play will hide apps that don’t receive updates!
The US-based company is putting into practice the new company policy published the other day. Accordingly, the company has decided to hide apps that haven’t been updated within two years of the last Android OS version update.
Thus, Google will prevent Play Store users from downloading applications that do not receive updates. The company decided to take such a step on the grounds that old applications may have a potential security vulnerability. Users who have already downloaded it will be able to download the applications. However, the apps will be masked for users who will download them for the first time.
This decision was based on Google’s current Play Store requirement for app developers to release updates that match the API of the latest Android OS version within a year of that release. Accordingly, Google wanted developers to adapt their applications to the current version within a year.
With the new policy taken in addition to this decision, applications that have not received updates for two years after the Android version update will no longer be available in the Play Store. These apps will not be available for download on phones with a newer Android version.
Google’s new security policy will go into effect on November 1, 2022. In this process, the company gives time to application developers to update their programs.
According to the new rules published the other day, as of May 11, applications with “globally unsuitable” content will be closed to transportation in certain regions. With the new rules, Google has also taken precautions against hate speech against immigrants.
