Berlin The federal government wants to deliver more armaments to Ukraine. It is also about new weapon systems, several people familiar with the plans reported to the Handelsblatt. The Ministry of Defense asked the manufacturers what they could deliver in the short term: “It’s about emergency aid for Ukraine.” In addition to anti-aircraft systems and ammunition, the delivery of other helmets has also been announced.
After Stinger anti-aircraft missiles and Panzerfausts, Germany approved the delivery of 2,700 Strela anti-aircraft missiles on Thursday. These still come from the stocks of the National People’s Army (NVA) of the GDR, but according to information from government circles they are still usable.
After that it shouldn’t be over. A Defense Ministry spokeswoman said there was already packaged material destined for Ukraine. However, it needs a release. The export of armaments must be approved by the Federal Security Council.
