In the past days, allegations have emerged that Samsung has subjected 10 thousand applications to performance restrictions, including services such as Samsung’s Secure Folder, Samsung Pay, and Samsung Pass, in addition to popular applications such as YouTube, Instagram, Netflix, Microsoft Office, TikTok. Even a list of the applications in question was shared.
The starting point of Samsung’s claims that it has reduced the performance of 10 thousand applications is the Game Optimization Service (GOS), which is used in some of its models. The service, which was designed to optimize CPU and GPU performance to prevent overheating while playing games for a long time, interestingly affected applications, causing performance degradation.
Performance benchmarking platforms such as 3DMark, AnTuTu, PCMark and Geekbench are not among the 10 thousand applications that the Game Optimization Service (GOS) limits its performance. Thus, Samsung models, which include the service, can get high scores by working fully efficiently when they enter the relevant performance tests.
Making statements on the subject recently, Samsung promised that they are aware of the situation and that they will soon eliminate the problems experienced by users by introducing a performance mode to the service. However, Geekbench was not satisfied with Samsung’s statement and announced that the company had removed all Galaxy S series models released in the last four years from its performance list.
