Berlin What happens if there is no gas? As can be read in a document from the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK), the consequences would be fatal. The “Lükex 18 Evaluation Report” does not skimp on details. On 92 pages he describes what could be feared in the event of a “gas shortage in southern Germany”, as the report subtitles.

The report differentiates between topics such as “population behavior”, according to findings in areas such as “health care”, “economy” or “nutrition, food and feed production (including animal husbandry)”, and it draws conclusions for “crisis and emergency management”.

The report dates from 2019 and summarizes the findings of an exercise from 2018. So it’s not new, but it’s more up-to-date than ever.

Today the gas supply situation is tighter than ever. The Federal Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW) called on Thursday for the so-called “early warning level” of the “gas emergency plan” to be declared.
