In the ring as world boxing champion, they called him “Iron Fist” – now Vitali Klitschko (50) fearlessly faces the Russian aggressors!
The mayor of Kiev (since 2014): a one-man army that has been mobilizing the defense of the capital for months against the threat of invasion by the overpowering enemy. Klitschko is already being traded as a candidate for the 2024 presidential election.
The model athlete (2.03 m) with a doctorate has prominent support from his own family: his brother Wladimir (45), also boxing world champion, has volunteered for the defense brigade.
Wladimir to BILD: “Out of love for my country, love for my family and friends, I have decided that I will defend Kyiv in the event of an attack. That’s why I’m staying here, no matter what happens. My brother and I always stood side by side in the boxing ring, and that still applies now.”
The message: Wladimir’s loyalty to Vitali, his love for his country, is more important than safety in his adopted home of Hamburg and his fortune in the millions.
The unconditional will to never give up runs in the family: the grandmother hid from the Nazis for years and survived the Holocaust.
Grandfather was a company commander in the Red Army and fought against Hitler. The father also became a soldier (major general) and was contaminated with radiation during the reactor catastrophe in Chernobyl. He died as a result.
At the weekend, Wladimir posted a faded photo on Instagram with his brother in Thai boxing shorts: “My most important ally in life.”
