Dusseldorf “We all have to work more,” said Thomas de Maizière, President of the Evangelical Church Congress in June. The call collides with what many German professionals want: The working time report of the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health showed that 53 percent of employees would like to reduce their working hours.

And less working time does not mean less performance at the same time, says psychologist Martin Krengel. According to the expert, the key to greater efficiency is radical time management. This includes, for example, putting a large part of the workload at the beginning of the day: “The morning is the best time for demanding and strategic tasks. Then you are still fresh and have enough thinking and willpower to master these tasks.”
