Five company bosses reveal the best arguments for higher salaries

When an employee is ready to grow, the salary also increases.

Stendal, Düsseldorf Salary negotiations have recently been a difficult topic in Germany’s companies. During the crisis, few employees dared to ask for more money. At the same time, employers find it difficult to make firm commitments in times of general uncertainty.

Annual talks are currently being held again in many companies. Have the chances of a raise in this fourth corona wave improved?

Yes, says Sebastian Pacher, compensation expert at the management consultancy Kienbaum. Most of the employees have recently shown themselves to be “very understanding” towards their employer and have kept demands in view of the crisis to a minimum.

This understanding is being used up more and more – also because, in addition to wage cuts and short-time work, there are also external factors such as a shortage of skilled workers and inflation: “There is currently a strong momentum for salary increases,” says Pacher, summarizing the situation.
