Ferrari Prosangue (2022): price, horsepower, speed

Ferrari prosegue

The brand’s first SUV should still be able to be moved like a sports car.

Lajatico Unlike most other sports car manufacturers, Ferrari has long avoided an SUV model. With the Purosangue, the Italians are now bringing their first spacious all-wheel drive vehicle at the beginning of 2023, which, however, still lives up to the sporty core values of the traditional car brand.

Visually, the almost five-meter-long five-door looks like a higher new edition of the shooting brake GTC4 Lusso, which was produced until 2020. Striking are about a long snout, pronounced bulges over the rear wheel arches and the absence of handles in the rear doors.

Powerful air openings in the front, huge wheels (front 22/rear 23 inches) and two double pipes at the rear illustrate the sporty intention. The Purosangue is powered by a 6.5-liter V12 that mobilizes 533 kW/725 hp and 716 Newton meters of torque. From a standstill to 100 km/h, the 2.1-ton truck is said to sprint in 3.3 seconds, and the top speed is stated as 310 km/h.

The V12 located at the front of the vehicle transmits its power primarily via a drive shaft to the rear axle, which is equipped with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Thanks to this transaxle arrangement, the SUV actually drives like a rear-wheel drive sports car.

However, a so-called Power Transfer Unit (PTU) can also drive the front axle equipped with torque vectoring technology via a second crankshaft output. Control technology ensures that the torque is optimally distributed depending on the situation.

Not too long

At 4.97 meters, the Purosangue stays just below the five-meter sound barrier.

sports car genes

The cockpit offers a lot of sports car flair.

Electronic helpers are already plentiful on board. A new feature is an active suspension system that controls body roll when cornering. HDC Hill Descent Control is also available for the first time in a Ferrari.

The interior of the Purosangue is more of a sports car than a family car. There are a total of four heavily contoured individual seats and an almost racing-style cockpit with a fully digital instrument cluster. There is also a touchscreen on the right-hand side of the dashboard, which can also be used to control many vehicle functions.

Doors open backwards.

Thanks to the rear-opening doors, getting into the rear should be quite easy.

Lots of power, big tail

Small rear lights and large tailpipes of the exhaust system characterize the rear view.

In addition to lots of leather, Alcantara, metal and carbon, more sustainable materials such as recycled polyester or polyamide carpets made from recycled fishing nets are also used in the interior. As befits an SUV, there is also a decent trunk that offers space for up to 473 liters of luggage and can be expanded if necessary thanks to the folding rear seat backrests. Ferrari wants to deliver the first Purosangue in spring 2023. The prices are likely to be well over 200,000 euros.
