Berlin The federal government has temporarily stopped subsidies for energy-efficient buildings. The new building subsidy of funding standard 55, which would have expired at the end of the month anyway, was finally discontinued, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection announced on Monday. Applications from the state development bank KfW are no longer accepted and no longer approved.

The new building subsidy of the stricter subsidy standard 40 has also been temporarily suspended. Subsidy for renovations will also be temporarily stopped, according to the ministry. Individual renovation measures, such as the replacement of heating systems, are not affected by the program stop.

The “enormous flood of applications” in January, especially for applications for the KfW funding standard 55, “significantly exceeded the funds provided,” the ministry said. The future of the KfW funding standard 40 will be decided quickly. The same applies to the handling of applications for both funding standards that have already been received but have not yet been decided. The budgetary funds provided are currently not sufficient for these applications either.
