Berlin FDP leader Christian Lindner has defined a major project for a possible coalition with the SPD and the Greens for the first time. “The idea of a socio-ecological market economy could have a formative impact beyond our party – the emphasis here is on market economy,” Lindner told Handelsblatt.
He cited the concentration of power in platform capitalism from Silicon Valley as an example. This calls to mind the classic task of liberal economic policy. “Namely to regulate the market for fair competition without undermining it by state commands,” he said.
Lindner called the state aid programs right and necessary at the moment of the Corona crisis. In the long run, however, excessive state influence weakens competitiveness and innovation. “It is time to return to normal economic conditions.
