Ethereum (ETH) Second Testnet Before Shanghai Hard Fork Successfully Performed!

Ethereum continues to perform testnets before its highly anticipated update. sepia testnet, staked ETH Successfully made withdrawals.

Second Ethereum (ETH) Testnet Successfully Simulated Shanghai Hard Fork

A second, known as Sepolia Ethereum testnet (testnet) successfully processed staked Ethereum (ETH) withdrawals today, bringing the Ethereum blockchain closer to the highly anticipated Shanghai Upgrade.

The Shanghai Upgrade will mark the transition of Ethereum to a fully functional Proof-of-Stake network, allowing validators to withdraw the rewards they earn by adding or confirming blocks to the blockchain.

There is one more test planned on Ethereum’s Goerli testnet before Shanghai goes live.

The test in Sepolia is designed to provide developers with another rehearsal of withdrawals similar to those that will occur on the main Ethereum blockchain.

Testnets replicate a main blockchain, in this case Ethereum, and allow developers to test changes they make to their apps in a low-risk environment.

Sepolia is the second of three testnets to run in such a simulation. But unlike the previous testnet upgrade that took place in Zhejiang earlier this month, this one was on a closed testnet, meaning only Ethereum core developers run validators on this testnet.

Sepolia is also the smallest of the three testnets in terms of the number of participating validators, making it the least important of the three testnets.

The final testnet upgrade will be made to Goerli in the coming weeks. This will be the last rehearsal before the main blockchain can process staked ETH withdrawals.

Goerli’s test will be the most anticipated, as it is the largest of the three testnets and most closely mimics the activities of the main Ethereum blockchain.
