Dinosaurs have been one of the most curious topics in the process from the formation of the world to the present day. The latest findings about the dinosaur lineage that lived in the pre-human period and whose extinction is still unknown, are quite surprising.
Pinacosaurus grangeri fossil contains the first intact larynx bone from a dinosaur
Until today, we have known dinosaurs with their large and wild appearance. We all know the predatory sounds we are familiar with from movies such as “Jurassic Park”. However, the study conducted on the Pinacosaurus grangeri fossil shows that this situation is completely different.
It was stated that the fossil contained the first intact throat bone of a dinosaur. The study, published in the journal Nature, revealed predictions about the sounds of dinosaurs. Accordingly, many dinosaurs have a larynx structure that is predicted to produce sounds like a thrush.
The research was led by paleontologist Junki Yoshida of the Hokkaido University Museum in Japan. It is estimated that the 5-meter dinosaur, which is classified as medium size, weighed approximately 2 tons. Regarding the research, Yoshida said, “This is the first step in understanding dinosaur sounds.” said.
Paleontologist Junki Yoshida, who carried out the research, said that the reason why the clearest findings about the larynx structure of dinosaurs, about which we have an idea on many subjects, have emerged recently is that the cartilages in the larynx are prone to deterioration and a solid larynx structure has never been encountered until now.
