The “Entertainment Tax” was abolished with the President’s Decision No. 6584 in today’s issue of the Official Gazette. This tax covered events such as movies and concerts.
Today’s issue of the Official Gazette came with an important decision for citizens who enjoy cultural and artistic activities. With the Presidential Decision No. 6584 “Entertainment Tax” was officially reset. This reset was done indefinitely. So the Entertainment Tax was repealed and Turkey has been removed from the agenda.
Entertainment Tax in Article 21 of the Law on Municipal Revenues No. 2464; It included cinema, concert, horse racing and sports competitions. In the past 10 per cent The tax item applied as 0 percenthad been dropped. With the President’s Decision coming today, Entertainment Tax, has been permanently removed.
The following statements were included in the decision published in the Official Gazette:
ARTICLE 1- Subparagraph (I) of Article 21 of the Law on Municipal Revenues No. 2464;
a) Entertainment tax rate taken from domestic movie screenings in sub-paragraph (1),
b) Entertainment tax rate taken from foreign film screenings in sub-paragraph (2),
c) The entertainment tax rate taken from sports competitions, horse races and concerts in sub-paragraph (4),
It was determined as 0%.
ARTICLE 2- The Decision of the Council of Ministers dated 9/12/1997 and numbered 97/10349 regarding the entertainment tax rates in Article 21 of the Law on Municipal Revenues No. 2464 has been repealed.
ARTICLE 3- (1) This decision enters into force on 1/1/2023.
ARTICLE 4- (1) The provisions of this Decision are executed by the Minister of Treasury and Finance.
Will ticket prices drop?
With the decision taken, the Entertainment Tax in events such as movies and concerts was reset. However, due to the abolition of this tax There will be no drop in ticket prices.. Because the entertainment tax has already been temporarily abolished and is not applied today. Therefore, today’s prices will not be subject to any discounts from January 1, 2023.
