Berlin The sum is enormous: the federal government is relieving citizens and companies by almost 300 billion euros. Because of the high energy costs in 2022, the traffic light coalition launched three packages totaling 95 billion euros.
In addition, there are 200 billion in a crisis fund, with which the gas price and electricity price brakes are mainly financed. “For me, it was and is a question of performance justice, not only increasing social transfers, but also keeping the burden on taxpayers moderate,” said Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) to the Handelsblatt. The government has done what is possible.
