Electric cars will be wirelessly charged!

Electric car manufacturer Tesla officially announced that it has developed an induction electric vehicle wireless charging platform. Franz von Holzhausen, who made the statement, announced that they were preparing to create a revolution in electric vehicle charging.

Thanks to Tesla, electric cars will now be able to charge wirelessly

Von Holzhausen officially announced that they are working on a system where Tesla owners can walk into their garages, park on a charging pad and start charging without the need for physical outlets.

This isn’t the first time Tesla has introduced the concept of induction charging. Earlier in the year, at an event in March, a photo surfaced showing a Model S being charged in a garage without a physical connection, sparking rumors. Official verification was made by von Holzhausen, as we mentioned.

Wireless charging for electric cars will involve installing an induction pad on the garage floor, eliminating the need for physical connection. While this promises a smoother charging experience, it comes at a potentially higher cost compared to traditional chargers.

The Volkswagen group is joining the ranks of automakers that will use Tesla’s NACS connector (North American Charging Standard).

During the installation, the induction pad will be embedded in the concrete and additional costs will arise from the installation of a wall-mounted charger connected to the electrical panel. Additionally, the vehicle itself needs to be equipped with an induction receiver.

In a strategic move, Tesla acquired German wireless charging company Wiferion in the summer, but disposed of it in October. Despite the sale, Tesla signaled that it would continue to focus on wireless charging development by retaining Wiferion’s engineers. What are you thinking?
