Dusseldorf The war in Ukraine poses many challenges for German industry. The purchase prices for energy, raw materials and primary products are rising rapidly, but many of these goods are hard to come by. On the other hand, demand is clouding over in many sectors because the rising prices are a burden for buyers and consumers.

Nevertheless, large companies in particular are looking to the future with great confidence. Around 80 percent of large companies have not recorded any sales losses since the outbreak of the war.

Almost three quarters expect sales to remain the same or even increase in 2022 compared to the previous year. This is the result of a survey by the commercial law firm Allen & Overy, which is available exclusively to the Handelsblatt.

The survey interviewed 100 first- and second-level executives in companies with annual sales of more than EUR 500 million.
