Tottenham blow as Bayern Munich leave two top transfer chiefs at home to sign Harry Kane as squad fly off for pre-season

BAYERN MUNICH have ramped up their mission to land Harry Kane.

The German giants jetted out on tour to Japan — but left two of their top chiefs at home to try to finalise a swoop for the Spurs striker.

Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel said: “They are doing something it is necessary to do in Europe to support us.”

Chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen and technical director Marco Neppe stayed in Europe and hope to have more talks with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy once the Londoners return from the Far East.

Bayern president Herbert Hainer is with the squad in Toyko ahead of today’s friendly against Manchester City and he is confident of sealing a deal for England captain Kane.

He said: “Bayern always tries to get international stars to make us and the Bundesliga better.

“Kane is highly attractive and would be good for us and the Bundesliga.”

Bayern have had two Kane bids of £60million and £70m KO’d this summer.

But Spurs owner Joe Lewis has told Levy that the hitman, who turns 30 on Friday, must be sold if he does not sign a new deal this summer.

Kane, valued at £100m despite having just one year left on his contract, has been offered a new deal worth £400,000 a week.

Manchester United retain an interest but have been told they would have to pay Kane a staggering £577,000 a week.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou batted away questions about Kane ahead of today’s final tour match in Singapore.

He said: “I deal with what’s before me. If something like that becomes something that I need to consider, then it’ll hit my roving desk at the moment.”

Bayern bigwigs in Japan are likely to talk with City after today’s match over their bid to sign Kyle Walker.
