Despite state aid, the Lufthansa board should receive millions in bonuses

Frankfurt, Berlin A dispute is smoldering on Lufthansa’s supervisory board about bonuses for the group’s board members. As the Handelsblatt learned from company circles, the top management should receive bonus payments for the years 2021 and 2022 despite the use of state aid in the past. This was decided by the supervisory board during a meeting in early December.

But some workers’ representatives had voted against the remuneration system, several sources from the business environment told the Handelsblatt. They believe the payment violated the ban on bonus payments during the state bailout. Lufthansa had government aid over nine Billions of euros used to prevent insolvency as a result of the corona crisis.
