Decoration for Halloween: How to make last-minute decorations yourself | Life & Knowledge

Halloween is literally just around the corner!

But why only enjoy the Halloween atmosphere on this one day? The gloomy autumn mood can be cheered up for the whole month with gruesome Halloween decorations!

We have creepy decoration tips for your home, to do your own handicrafts or for the party buffet!

Great Halloween decoration for your home

Watch out: Halloween decorations don’t always have to be flashy!

Simple variations let the horror heart flare up. Skeleton posters or tea lights can be chic but spotty. Pumpkin-shaped fairy lights can also create a Halloween-autumn mood.

☞ Our tip: normal decorations can be combined very well with Halloween. You can easily make your own decoration from most everyday objects!

It’s easy to make Halloween decorations yourself

During the darker months of the year it is a great activity for the children: you can easily make Halloween decorations yourself at home!

★ Mummy tea lights

Almost everyone has that at home! You need:

  • an empty jar (e.g. jam jar)
  • white napkins or gauze bandages from the old first-aid kit
  • Craft glue
  • Glue eyes or black felt pen

☞ Instructions

And this is how it works: Wrap the gauze bandages very tightly around the glass in a very thin layer. It’s best to start from the bottom. When you reach the edge, cut the bandage slightly in the middle to pull a knot from the ends.

The entire glass should now be wrapped. Now find a good place for the glue eyes. If you don’t have a home, simply use the felt pen to draw creepy eyes on the bandage yourself.

Finally, put the tea light in the glass – the last-minute mummy light is ready!

Which decorations go well with the Halloween party?

No matter what age, a Halloween themed party can be very funny. But it only stands out when everyone participates in costume.

What should you watch out for? That the Halloween decoration creates the right atmosphere!

Basically: Everything that looks scary finds a place! You can buy the decoration both online and in the supermarket or you can easily make it yourself!

Themed rooms are especially popular at parties! Simply decorate the hallway differently than the living room or kitchen.

☞ The horror rooms

Artificial dust webs or spider webs create a gruesome atmosphere. You can cover lamps and windows with thin cloths.

Decorate with toilet paper or gauze bandages? Yes! You can wrap items like a mummy or just use them as a garland.

Tip: Indirect light sources from homemade tea lights make the rooms look gloomy thanks to the flickering light.

☞ The party buffet

The kitchen, on the other hand, should be lit a little brighter. But the same applies here: A high level of horror ensures a good mood.

The Halloween buffet should be arranged accordingly. Classics like bloody-looking fingers made from sausages are sure to bring a lot of laughs!

The carved pumpkin and pumpkin soup should of course not be missing.

The right drink is of course the horror punch. Everything that makes the drink look as creepy as possible is allowed to swim here. As a tip: There are often matching rubber animals to buy at Halloween time.

Watch out: the tablecloth is the finishing touch!

Have you always wanted to get rid of the white tablecloth? Then spray some remaining red paint over it and the gruesome, murderous Halloween decoration for your buffet is ready!
