Dax closes with little change – profit-taking on Rheinmetall shares

Dusseldorf Against the background of rising interest rate expectations, investors held back on their purchases on the German stock market on Monday. The leading index Dax closes in the evening at 15,477 points, hardly changed.

The low price movements combined with below-average trading volumes are typical for a Shrove Monday, when the street carnival reaches its peak in many areas of Germany. This effect is reinforced by the public holiday in the USA (Presidents’ Day).

A positive effect of the quiet trading day is that the slight downward trend at the end of the previous week will not continue for the time being. Prices fell last Friday due to speculation that the key central banks would raise interest rates further.
