Date set for electric Land Rover Defender

After Mercedes, General Motors and BMW, Land Rover has also stepped up its efforts for fully electric cars. According to a recent report from British outlet Auto Express, Land Rover has started preparations to introduce the electric Defender model in 2025.

Land Rover is expected to use the new MLA platform, which can combine both an internal combustion engine and an all-electric drivetrain in the electric Defender. The MLA platform, which supports Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, will be presented to car enthusiasts in both 2024.

It is among the leaked information that the electric Defender model will have a range of about 300 miles. However, it is speculated that it will be released alongside an updated version of the current internal combustion model.

The Electric Defender will be introduced with a different wheelbase than the standard version. The new model will be available with two different axle options, 90 and 130.

It claims the electric Defender will have a 100 kWh battery. Apart from the powertrain difference and a few minor exterior changes, it is stated that the electric Defender will be similar to the internal combustion engine version that has been on sale since 2020.

The standard Land Rover Defender model is offered for sale in the US market with a price tag of $ 55,000. The electric version is estimated to cost between $75,000 and $80,000. It is not yet known whether the company will launch the electric Defender model in the Turkish market.
