Danger of Guerrilla virus on Android devices!

The world of technology and smart devices is developing more and more every day. Of course, the universe of technology designed for good purposes also has a parallel world. This parallel world continues to develop in the same way. The reports published in recent days make us question the security of Android devices again. Here are all the details about the Guerrilla virus…

It leaves the door open on your phone!

The security of Android devices has been discussed for many years. Yes, Google has taken action against operating system vulnerabilities, but there has never been any really effective action against malicious 3rd party applications in the Google Play Store. This inevitably described the security of Android devices as “questionable”.

A report published last week inflamed this event even more. In the report, it was reported that more than one Android device came to users with malware from the factory. After the report, Android users began to approach their phones with suspicion.

The popular Xiaomi model will not receive the MIUI 14 update!

The Xiaomi Note 10 Lite model, which was introduced to users in 2020, will not receive the MIUI 14 update. Here are the details!

The first report published came from cybersecurity firm Trend Micro. The company’s research examined 50 different models of Android devices. The results are quite frightening. According to the company’s report, 8.9 million Android devices were reported to be infected with malware. It turned out what the name of the malware in question was.

The application, which was documented by another cybersecurity firm Sophos, was named Guerrilla. And then, like a detective, the Guerrilla app was traced. Once the tracing process is over, the results are quite frightening. Because Guerrilla was found in the infrastructure of 15 different applications in the Google Play Store.

What Guerrilla basically does is simple. Thanks to the application it contains, it opens a backdoor on your phone under the name of “update notification”. Thus, it downloads the malicious software requested to be downloaded to your phone by showing it as an update. Malware that downloads affects your phone’s battery life, performance, or the ad content you come across.

In general, low battery life and performance features are noticed in the phones with Guerrilla. On the other hand, advertisements that appear in front of users are mostly content that has nothing to do with them and that we can call obscene. The countries where infected phones are most common at the moment are the USA, Mexico, Indonesia, Thailand and Russia.

As for the question of what is the situation in Turkey, there is no answer for now. No security company has given the names of brands or apps with malicious apps. The only thing that is known about this issue is that it is mostly seen in middle segment and lower segment devices.
