Cyber ​​Attack on Şişli Municipality

As a result of the cyber attacks on Domino’s and Yemeksepeti in the past days, it was revealed that the data of many people was leaked. Domino’s and Yemeksepeti companies, as well as Mediamarkt and Akbank, had their share of cyber attacks. In fact, another target of hackers was one of the giant names of the video game world, Blizzard, and many players had problems accessing online games such as Overwatch and Call of Duty: Warzone.

Unfortunately, cyber attacks continue to cause trouble for many institutions and organizations, including states. Of course, accessing the internet networks of states can become much more dangerous than accessing the data of a catering company. Turkey is among the countries most attacked by cyber attacks. It has been determined that a cyber attack has been organized on Şişli Municipality in the past days and a ransomware has been uploaded to the servers used by the municipality.

In the attack on Şişli Municipality on February 12, it was revealed that some files and folders were encrypted by infiltrating the servers used by the municipality through ransomware. While experts continue to investigate this attack, the total number of people and records affected by the attack is not certain.

In the statement made by Şişli Municipality to the Personal Data Protection Authority, it was stated that many folders and files were encrypted, the attack was detected on the same day, and the groups of people affected by the relevant attack were employees, users and members. While no information was given about the categories of data affected by the breach, it was reported that the expert review continues.
