Complaints Have Been Made About Bitcoin’s Spending Process in El Salvador!

While protests against Bitcoin continued in El Salvador, which accepts Bitcoin as its currency, another news came from the SAI of El Salvador. He explained that he had received a complaint from Cristosal, the regional human rights and transparency organization from the SAI, regarding the “Bitcoin trust” spending process in El Salvador.

The Court of Accounts, which took the complaint into consideration, announced that it had started investigations on the subject. As a result of the investigation, in a possible negative situation, the Court of Accounts will be able to impose administrative penalties and impose sanctions on assets. In addition, if any irregularity is detected, the Court of Accounts will have the right to notify the Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor to initiate the necessary criminal proceedings.

According to Reuters, the Court of Accounts said in an official document, “After the complaint is accepted, the complaint will begin to be investigated legally and will be forwarded to the General Audit Coordination as soon as possible.”

As it will be remembered, at the beginning of this month, the government of El Salvador became the first country to legally accept Bitcoin. After the government announced that Bitcoin transactions would be accepted all over the country, it started to provide Bitcoin ATMs all over the country for its citizens to make transactions more easily, and in addition, it also launched a digital wallet called Chivo connected to these ATMs.

The Cristosal organization, on the other hand, demanded that an investigation be opened regarding the digital wallet called Chivo, which was established with public funds, and the ATMs to which this wallet is connected. The corresponding complaint was filed against six members of the El Salvador government who sit on the Bitcoin Trust Board.
