Competition in the middle segment is increasing! Exynos 1280 features revealed

Samsung lagged behind MediaTek and Qualcomm in mid-range devices. The company announced the features of the Exynos 1280 processor.

After 2 years, Samsung started to develop processors for the middle segment again. Introducing its first phone with Exynos 1280 last week, the company finally announced the features of the processor.

Exynos 1280 features

The introduced processor has 2 high-speed ARM Cortex-A78 and 6 efficient ARM Cortex-A55 cores. Produced with 5nm technology, the processor has very good features for mid-segment devices.

The new processor has features such as 1080p resolution and 120Hz screen refresh rate, which we encounter in mid-segment Qualcomm processors. Samsung has announced that they have added 5G support to the processor used in the Galaxy A53 model.

Valhall-based ARM Mali-G68 graphics interface was used in the new processor. Unfortunately, the processor architecture used by Samsung falls short in optimization. However, the company aims to offer better battery life thanks to its Fused Multiply-Add (FMA) technology.

One of the most important details today is artificial intelligence cores. Samsung claims that it will offer users better photo and video performance with the artificial intelligence accelerator it has developed. The artificial intelligence accelerator, which has similar features to the Qualcomm 750G, can perform up to 4.3 trillion operations per second (TOPS).
