Commerzbank wants to expand foreign business with corporate customers

Frankfurt At Commerzbank, discussions on the strategy for the coming years are entering the hot phase. According to financial circles, the board of directors and supervisory board want to discuss the further development of the institute at their autumn meeting in the company’s own conference center in Glashütten from September 26th to 28th. The strategy will be announced on November 8th.

There are no decisions yet, but the first key points are already emerging. The institute plans to build up further capacity in corporate customer business abroad, several people familiar with the discussions told Handelsblatt. The reason is that many corporate customers are increasingly investing abroad and that Commerzbank aims to provide them with the best possible support.

There is still a lot of potential for Germany’s second largest private bank in this business area; after all, German direct investments abroad have increased significantly in the past decade, the insiders explained. It can be assumed that this trend will continue.
