Dusseldorf The retail sector is alarmed: Shortly before Christmas, delivery problems worsened. Many goods that are traditionally under the Christmas tree are affected: electronics and sporting goods, but also toys and books. For the retail sector, this means less sales, and those who receive the present have to expect one or two disappointments: not every wish will come true this year.
The most popular gifts will be the hardest to come by for this festival. But nobody has to fear going completely empty: Perhaps it is not the smartphone that they wanted, but just a different model.
The two months before Christmas are the most important of the year for many branches of retail: jewelry, toys, books and electronics – almost a quarter of sales are achieved by retailers before the festival.
