Munich No chips far and wide: the customers of the semiconductor industry have been needing a lot of patience for months. Nothing will change that quickly. “The delivery bottlenecks will extend well into 2022 and could even last until the end of the year,” said Infineon’s Chief Sales Officer Helmut Gassel to the Handelsblatt.

The manager explained that the demand was still high: “So far we have not seen any cancellations of orders.” This is not to be expected in the foreseeable future.

Because the customers’ warehouses are empty, the demand for laptops, smartphones and servers remains high in the third year of the pandemic: “The digitization push is sustainable. The strong growth will therefore continue for a while, ”says Gassel.

With its own factories, the chip manufacturer manages to serve customers with some degree of reliability. But like the competition from Apple to Qualcomm, Infineon also lacks the goods of the so-called “foundries” from the Far East.
