Cairo A cargo ship ran aground in the Suez Canal on Monday. After a few hours, however, smugglers managed to free the “Glory” again, reported the service provider Leth Agencies. Traffic through the canal, which connects the Mediterranean Sea with the Red Sea, could resume from 11 a.m. local time.
Nothing was known about the cause of the accident. However, bad weather prevailed in the region on Sunday. According to Leth Agencies, the Glory was stuck near the town of Kantara in the province of Ismailia. Satellite data analyzed by the AP news agency showed the Glory was lying in a single-lane section of the canal south of Port Said.
According to the Joint Coordination Center, which brings Ukrainian products to the world market, the “Glory” has on board more than 65,000 tons of grain from Ukraine, which is to be delivered to China.
