Frankfurt In all likelihood, the Deutsche Bundesbank will have to start 2023 with one vacant position on the Executive Board. The Hessian state government, which has the right to propose the next vacant post, has not yet been able to agree on the successor to board member Johannes Beermann. His contract expires at the end of the year. Several people familiar with the topic told the Handelsblatt that the personnel details will be clarified in good time.
The unresolved personnel issue is explosive for the central bank. Beermann is not only responsible for issues such as cash and controlling. On the board, he is also responsible for the conversion of the Bundesbank headquarters, which has made headlines several times due to delays and high costs.
