Bluesky exceeded 1 million users!

Jack Dorsey, the founder and former CEO of Twitter, announced a few years ago that he had founded Bluesky, a social media platform with features similar to Twitter (now known as X). Although the platform has been accepting registrations by invitation only for a long time, it has passed a major milestone.

Bluesky exceeded 1 million users

Bluesky, one of the most important alternatives to the platform formerly known as Twitter, has reached one million users. This number is of course ‘small’ compared to the number of users on major social networks, but it is a big deal for a service that has remained inaccessible to most people to date.

Announcing the milestone at X, Bluesky team member Rose Wang told TechCrunch that the service’s app reached one million downloads in July.

Twitter rival Bluesky broke a record: New records have been stopped!

Bluesky said it has stopped new registrations. Following Twitter’s decision to restrict tweets, the platform reached a record number of users.

Only now has enough people created accounts for the social network to announce that it has reached 1 million users. However, those who want to gain a place on Bluesky still need to have their invitation code to log in.

Bluesky first burst onto the scene as a (previously) decentralized social network funded by Twitter and backed by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey.

Shortly after launching in closed beta, it offered users the ability to choose their own algorithms so they could customize their timelines. In an effort to remain ad-free, it began offering a paid domain service as a way for users to verify their identity.

It’s unclear when the app will be available to the public, and checking shows some codes are still selling online for hundreds of dollars. As we said, being able to exceed 1 million users is a great success.
