BitMart Hacked: Total Loss $200 Million!

Crypto exchange platform BitMart came to the fore with a $ 200 million hack.

BitMart officials initially denied the hacking allegations, mistaking the transaction as a routine withdrawal, but hours later, BitMart CEO Sheldon Xia confirmed the security breach.

PeckShield, which leads the blockchain security and data analytics company, announced the related news on Twitter.

BitMart CEO Sheldon Xia said:

We’ve detected a large-scale security breach involving one of our ETH hot wallets and one of our BSC hot wallets. We are currently concluding possible methods still used. The hackers managed to withdraw approximately $150 million worth of assets.

We are temporarily suspending withdrawals until further notice. We would appreciate it if you would be patient with us during this time. Please accept our most sincere thanks.

It was announced that about $ 100 million worth of transfers were made on the Ethereum chain, and $ 96 million was on the Binance Smart Chain. The total loss was announced as 200 million dollars!

Bitmart, a crypto money platform that has been operating since 2017, has lost a large number of stored tokens (Shiba Inu, Binance Coin, Saitama, Mana, BabyDoge, etc.) after the cyber theft.

According to the statement made by the exchange, it was emphasized that users will not have any losses.

The number of crypto thefts in the decentralized market is increasing day by day. The fact that many crypto money platforms have experienced the same fate before, causes the trust in the crypto industry to be shaken.

Lost platforms are looking for ways to strengthen their security in order to regain the trust of their customers.
